EXIT TEMPERAMENT
p'ILM stars whose displays of temperament are likely to prove cost; ly to their companies will now find that it pays to be a trifle more placid and normal, according to an overseas message.
A “court ot justice" for the settlement of disputes has been established in the Conciliation Board of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a body which represents all sides of the industry. It was by this "court” that James Cagney’s muchadvertised ' walk-out” on the Warner Brothers was brought to a satisfactory conclusion. Now Lee Tracy, the “new” star, has been charged with causing costly delays by unpunctuality at the studio, and on two occasions, staying away till day without excuse. Damages of £2500 are claimed by his employers. Radio Pictures. Action may also be taken by the Academy Conciliation Board in the case of Carole Lombard, who, as reported recently, refused to act with James Cagney. Meanwhile. Miss Lombard's salary has been suspended, and the part has lieen given to Mary Brian.
