West Coast Stud Sheep Breeders SOUTHDOWNS AND ROMNEYS Dominion Special Service. Feilding, Jan., 19. About one-third of the Southdown and Romney rams offered at the West Coast Stud Sheepbreeders’ sale at Feilding yesterday were sold. The top price of 56 guineas was obtained by Mr. H. B. Johnston, of Cheltenham, for a two-shear Romney ram which was purchased by Mr, J. A. Mitchell, of Longburn. The following were the prices obtained: SOUTHDOWNS. Ellis Bros.. Strong Competition for Lambs

Freeman R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., report as follows on the Wanganui sale: — The entry, as advertised, came forward to a good attendance of buyers. Competition for lambs was very strong, and the annual drafts of good shorn wether lambs from Mr. James Gray, making 7/6; his b.f. rape lambs sold at 9/-. A. G. Anderson’s Estate wether lambs made 6/11. Fat sheep sold at late rates, whilst cull lambs sold remarkably well. Fat cattle were just a shade easier than last week; several pens of young steers sold at late rates, which must be a good investment for the buyer. Pigs and vealcrs were at last week’s values. At last week's stock sales at Flemington. Melbourne, there was a plentiful variety of all classes of fat sheep and lambs, the moderate operations of exporters influencing a decidedly weakening trend. Quotations were: — Fat sheep : Prime crossbred and comeback wethers, from 11/- to 13/6. with extra prime hogget wethers, early shorn, from 13/- to 15/-; good crossbred and comeback wethers, from 9/6 to 1.1/-; prime heavy crossbred ewes, from 7/- to 8/-, a few pens up to 9/7; second and useful canning-grade ewes, from 3/6 to 6/3. with middling and inferior old ewes from 1/- to 2/6; prime merino wethers, from 8/6 to 9/6, with Riverina early shorn wethers, from 9/6 to 10/3; good merino wethers,' from 7/- to 8/-; middling and inferior, from 4/6 to 5/6. The approximate quotation for best wether mutton,' at ljd. a lb., with hogget, wether mutton from l}d. to 2}d. a lb.; mediumweight wether mutton, at l}d. a lb., with fat ewe mutton at l}d. a lb., with mixed grade secondary classes from 2d. to ltd. a lb. Good Clearance at Upper Hutt

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, report a small yarding of sheep and a large yarding of cattle at the Upper Hutt sale on Wednesday. There was an excellent attendance of the public, and a good clearance was effected of both sheep and cattle:-—
