Ngahauranga Freezing ’ Works CHAIN SYSTEM KILLING Tallies at the Wellington Meat Export Company’s works at Ngahauranga attained a total of 8079 yesterday, which is a record for this season. The men worked half an hour longer than usual, for which overtime will be paid, and only one extra man was employed. On Monday the tallies amounted to 7230. It is stated that yesterday’s total has not by any means reached the maximum. t According to reports, the free labour men are working well, rapidly becoming proficient at their work. Seven chain systems are in operation, and 16 union men are at work. In addition to the ordinary freezing work, 22 head of cattle were dealt with yesterday.
