BATHING FATALITY
Broken Neck in Dive By Telegraph—Press Association. Te Arolia, Jan. IS. A bathing fatality occurred in the IVaihou River at Eastport road yesterday. George Harry Hoye, employed at the single men’s camp, was bathing with others, and when he was diving his head hit an obstruction. Mr. Hoye’s neck was broken, death being instantaneous. His relatives reside at AVaiiii.
Sir Douglas Mawson has said that after completing his Antarctic expedition he would endeavour to secure English capital to establish a whaling industry in Australia, which was an excellent base from which to compete with the Norwegians.
