GREAT AIRPORT ALSO
Scheme for Southampton (Received Jan. 17, 5.5 p.m.) Official Wireless. Rugby, Jan. 16. Southampton, which is already the biggest passenger port in the Empire and Europe, aspires also to become a great airport. The local authorities have acquired a site for a large municipal aerodrome between Southampton and Eastleigh, which is to be developed for air traffic in connection with ocean voyages. A scheme is being considered nfider which arriving and departing liners will connect with air services between Southampton and the chief European cities and routes to the East.
