WOODEN COOKING SPOONS
Wooden cooking spoons and other kitchen utensils which are made of white wood soon have a soiled appearance unless measures are taken to keep them white. They should never be washed in hot water, but always in that which is lukewarm and soapy, or they will become soft and a bad colour. A little lemon juice rubbed over white wood articles and allowed to dry on after they are washed will keep them beautifully white if they are allowed to dry naturally. The heat from the fire causes them to warp, while they retain their colour far better if they are dried in the sun. A wooden draining-board will keep white if it is rubbed down with the cut half of a lemon every day.
