Stokes Valley Club The Stokes A'alley Rifle Club continued its championship series oil Saturday, There was no outstanding scores', but. there was a general improvement at 600 vards. Next Saturday the ranges will be 300. 500. and 600 yards. The results were as follow:—

GORSE AND GRASS FIRES Calls at Upper Hutt Two calls to gorse fires were received by the Upper Hutt Volunteer Fire Brigade on Monday. At 3.30 p.m. the brigade received a call to a fire, which had apparently been caused bv a spark from a locomotove. hear the railway line, but outside Upper Hutt. No serious damage was done. .Some 45 minutes later a summons was received to a gorse and grass fire on the propertv of Mr. Dunstall. Seddon Street. Wallaceville. The first was quickly got under control by the brigade. The water pressure, it is stated, was very low at both fires. HUTT PERSONALS Mr and Mrs. A. Collins and their son. Mr. E. A. Collins. Air. and Mrs. W. O,„ Pritchard, who have been spending the'holidays at Mahina Bay, have returned to their home at Karori. Miss Betty Gibbs. Upper Jluth has returned from a visit to Christchurch. Miss Annette Strickland, Lower Hutt, is spending a holiday, in Auckland.

Mrs. A. H. Warren, “Rawahi,” Pirinoa. is visiting Christchurch. Miss Johns, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. Phillips, Lake Ferry, South M atrarapa. Mrs. M. Cooper, who has been staying with hex* mother. Mrs._G. Hume. Pirinoa. has returned to her home at Uanncvirkc.
