FOSSILISED SKELETON
Discovered in Sahara 1 The fossilised skeleton of a human being, the first , ever found'in the Sahara, has been unearthed near Asselar, a lonely spot in the desert, by two French naturalists. The remains are those of a man of about fifty years of age, live feet two inches in height, with very long arms and legs like an ape and an exceedingly prominent lower jaw. The ape man was exceedingly well provided with teeth. Experts declare that the characteristics of the ape man differ completely from the present black races inhabiting Southern Africa, but that the newly discovered skeleton does, however, show pronounced negroid features. Although some dozen examples of fossilised remains of primitive man have been found in southern Africa, the Asselar specimen is declared to be the first discovered in Africa north of the Equator.
