RETIRING TEACHERS

Appreciation of Services TRIBUTES FROM BOARD Among the teachers to retire from the service of the Education Board this month is an “old boy” of the Mount Cook School, who is retiring after a total service of 47 years. Mr. Robert Crawford Drummond commenced his service as a pupil teacher at the Mount Cook Boys’ School in ISS6. Four years later he was promoted to be an assistant master there. In 1893 he was appointed head teacher at Te Horo, since when he had occupied similar positions at Parkvale (1895), Clareville (1899), Lansdowne (1909), and Masterton Central (1923). Special references were made at yesterday’s (meeting of the Education Board by the chairman, Mr. T. Forsyth, and Messrs. W. 11. Jackson and A. Williams, to the long and faithful services of Mr. Drummond.

Another retiring teacher was Miss Alice Jane Stanton, who lias a total service of 30 years. Miss Stanton served as assistant mistress at Dalefield, Clyde Quay and I’etone West, and as infant mistress at Hutt Central. Mr. J. Stonehouse paid a special tribute to the services rendered by Miss Stanton.

Miss Annie E. Bradbury, another teacher retiring on superannuation, has a total service of 31 years nine months, served at Waipawa, Porangahau, Hukanui, Masterton, Waipawa, and Masterton Central.

The chairman, Mr. T. Forsyth, and nearly every member of the board paid tributes to each of the retiring teachers.
