Mr. G. R. Ritchie, a director of the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived from the south yesterday. Professor 11. Beishaw, professor of economies at Auckland University College, is staying at. the Midland Hotel. Dr. P. F. MeEvedy, who has been visiting the South Island, returned to Wellington yesterday. Mr. Edward Newman. C.M.G., and Mr. G. W. Reid, members of the Railway Board, are in Wellington. Dr. J. Hight, rector of Canterbury College, and Professor A. 11. Tooker, professor of economics at the College, are at the Midland Hotel. Mr. W. J. Boden, acting-senior inspector of schools, has been transferred to Auckland. He will take up his new duties after the long vacation. Mr. W. Wallace, president of the Hospital Boards’ Association of N.Z., will arrive in Wellington to-day to attend a meeting of the Nurses’ and Midwives’ Registration Board. Major-General W. L. H. SinclairBurgess, General Officer Commanding the New Zealand Military Forces, returned to Wellington yesterday after visiting the South Island. Mr. C. Mi Turrell, Dominion superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, returned to Wellington yesterday morning after attending a meeting of directors of the company at Christchurch. Mr. A. Leslie, M.R.0.V.5., a veterinarian of Lincoln College, has been awarded the diploma of Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. London, for a thesis on research into (lie diseases of sheep in Canterbury.
