The Home Mission Committee had agreed to the appointment of Mr. Warren for three years, and had agreed to make a grant of £35 for the first year to help toward a stipend of £275. The Presbytery approved of this, and arrangements were made for the ordination and induction of Mr. Warren on Thursday, December 22. the Moderator of Presbytery, the Rev. G. W. Howes, 8.A., of Otautau, and a former, minister of Carterton, was nominated as Moderator of the General Assembly, 1933/34.
A very fine display of handwork, the work of the pupils, was seen at the annual breaking-up ceremony of St. Bride’s Convent (Masterton) yesterday. The exhibition, which covered a wide range of subjects, all of a high order, included ‘Sonic excellent examples of pastel work in delicate and • beautifully blended colours, attractive black and white' sketches, work by the dressmaking class, and some pen paintings of merit.. The annual ‘‘treat’’ given by the Mangatninoka Women’s Institute to pupils of the Mnngatainoka and Rauwhatn schools was this year, as on previous occasions, a very jolly function which both kiddies and parents enjoyed thoroughly. A concert programme had been arranged by Mr. W. IT.-Stainton and Miss J. Atkinson, and this was warmly received. At the conclusion. Mrs. C. ■ Walker, president of the institute, thanked the performers. The "feast” was done full justice to, and each child was given a bag of sweets and a balloon.
