RENT IN ARREARS
. Relief Worker’s Position COMMENT BY MAGISTRATE Palmerston North, Dec. 14. The position of relief workers who were in arrears with payment of their rents was commented on by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when hearing an order for possession of a house. It was stated that the defendant, a relief worker, was 12 months in arrears of his rent and owed £46. His Worship said the case was a hard one, but if a man was 12 months behind in his rent the landlord was entitled for an order for possession. * If I say no lelief worker is to be evicted, no matter whether he is one or two years behind, what will be the position?” His Worship said the owner of the house was entitled to an order, but he would make it as easy as he could for defendant. Possession would have to be given in one month. Judgment for £2O ot the arrears was asked for and granted.
