ARCTIC GHOST SHIP
Adrift Among Ice VALUABLE FUR CARGO (Reuter— Special to “The Dominion.”) There is a "ghost ship” wandering about in the ice floes off the coast of Alaska. She is the London vessel Baychimo. of 1332 tons, which a year ago was trapped in the ice and is now drifting helplessly about in the floes with her valuable cargo of furs still intact on board. After her crew had abandoned her and made Point Barrow. Alaska, aeroplanes made efforts to reach her and remove her cargo, hut without success, and finally the aeroplanes were unable to locate her and she was given up as lost. But she has bobbed up again repeatedly and recently a visit was paid to her by 28 Eskimos after a hazardous trip over rough ice. They declare the ship is little damaged,, but the spot where she is embedded in the ice is still adapted to aerial landings. The Eskimos themselves had to be rescued by another party, for their supplies were giving out and ice was breaking up beneath them. And the Bnychimo is still drifting in the floes off Alaska with her valuable cargo of furs.
