Amendment of Tennis Rules

ASSOCIATION’S EMBARGO (Received Dec. 13, 5.5 p.m.) London, Dec. 12. The annual meeting of the Lawn Tennis Association elected Sir Samuel Hoare president. Mr. H. Monekton moved that the rules be amended in order to make a “subsidised player” ineligible fbr a committee or to compete at a tournament. except a national championship. He said it was no use burking the fact that there was much insidious subsidising. “We want it brought into the open.” The meeting accepted the proposal. Mr. Monekton then proposed that competitors in tournaments, except national championships, should make a declaration that they were not directly or indirectly under obligation to further the business of any firm or receiving financial assistance, rebate, or hospitality. The meeting agreed to an alternative proposal that notice to the same effect as the declaration should be inserted in the entry forms, except for national championships-
