Mr. J. Hope, of Dunedin, returned to Wellington by the Monowai from Sydney yesterday morning. Flight-Lieutenant J. D. Hewitt, Auckland, is visiting Wellington and is at the Hotel St. George.

Colonel S. S. Allen, Morrinsville, and Mr. H. B. Johnston, Otaio, members of the Transport Appeal Board, are staying at the Midland Hotel. Mr. H. M. Chrystall, of Christchurch, returned to Wellington from a visit to Australia by the Monowai yesterday morning. Mr. B. W. Miller, Assistant Undersecretary of Marine, returned to Wellington from the South Island yesterday.

Mr. Justice Blair, who has been on circuit at Blenheim and Nelson, returned to Wellington by -the s.s. Tamahine yesterday.

J Mr. H. Buck, New Zealand manager of John Lysaght, Ltd., returned to Wellington from a visit abroad by the Monowai from Sydney yesterday morning. Dr. T. S. Greenaway, of Guernsey, Channel Islands, arrived at Wellington by the Monowai from Sydney yesterday morning. He intends to spend several weeks in the Dominion. Mr. I. Matheson was welcomed as a new member of the executive of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association yesterday by the president, Mr. J. Abel.

The Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, who has been to Napier in connection with the Hawke’s Bay Assessment Court, will return to Wellington today, and will sit at the Supreme Court to-morrow.

Mr. W. W. Y. B. Blake-Yelvcrton, of Holyhead, North Wales, arrived in Wellington from Sydney by the Monowai yesterday. It is the visitor’s intention to view the Franz Josef Glacier, then cross the Alps to Mount Cook. After some climbing, Mr. Blake-Yel-verton intends to visit Queenstown and later will visit the North Island scenic resorts. Later he will leave for Tahiti, where he intends to procure a cutter in which to visit the Marquesas. Taumotos, the New Hebrides, and Solomon groups. Afterward he intends to see India and then return to Australia.
