About People and Events THEFT OF LIQUOR Owned by Mr. Itatteray, of Kiccarton. Christchurch, a licensed booth on the Trentham racecourse was broken into on Mouday night. It is understood that a quantity of liquor was stolen, hut until Mr. Itatteray arrives the extent of the theft will not be known. Supreme Court Sittings.

The 11133 sittings of the Supreme Court have been fixed to commence ou Wednesday, February I; Monday, May 1; Monday, July 24; and Tuesday, October 24. The court will adjourn for the long vacation on December 20.

Sanders Cup Boats. It was decided at last evening’s meeting of the AVellington Provincial Yacht and Motor-Mat Association that a remit be brought forward at the next Dominion Sanders Cup Conference at Christchurch that the 1923 Bona plan be reverted to for all time.

Relief Work at Johnsonville. The Johnsonville Town Board has decided to authorise the chairman of its works committee to refuse employment to relief workers who have already turned down labour which has been offered to them. This step was taken as a result of reports that a section of relief workers would not accept relief rates of pay for work at their own trades.

Duty on Textiles. Recently a remit was passed by the New Zealand Farmers’ Union that the duties on all imported goods containing wool should be carefully reviewed. Yesterday the AVellington Manufacturers’ Association received a letter from the Farmers’ Union stating that the idea behind the remit was to get the 20 per cen. duty on Bri fish-made textiles containing’ wool reduced to allow of an increased use of wool in those fabrics.
