RIFLE-SHOOTING

Trying Time on Range

SUBURBS CLUB SERIES The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club continued its championship series on Saturday with a match over 300 and 600 yards. Trenthani was at its worst, and a boisterous “lishtail” wind made shooting exceptionally difficult. At times a gust straight down the range would lift a shot over the top or drive it into the bank. This happened frequently at 600 yards, and only those experienced marksmen who knew the effects of such gusts and held fire, avoided m in SC s’plte of. the conditions, the shooting at 300 yards was of a high order, and the scores of 46 by Dep.-Pres, Goodall and 45 each by Riflemen A. Shardlow, C. Milroy, and S. F. McLean were meritorious performances. At GOO yards the wind proved too difficult for the majority of the marksmen 8. Neilson (42), President Felllngham (41), H. R. Hunt (41), and A. Shardlow (41) being the only ones who passed the 40 mark. , , , Top gun scorer for the day was A. J. Shardlow, who returned a hard-earned 86 K. G.
