GOLD AT KAWARAU
Bell and Kilgour’s Claim 150 OUNCES UNCOVERED Dominion Special Service. Dunedin, Dec. 12. So far approximately 150 ounces of gold has been won from Messrs. Percy Bell and Kilgour’s claim on ihe Kawarau. The return last week totalled 18 ounces, those for the previous two weeks being 10 ounces and 30 ounces respectively. The wash in this claim and also in that being worked by Messrs. R. Bell and Hooper brothers is said to be showing improvement. Though an option has been given by Messrs. Bell and Kilgour over their claim, no steps have yet. been taken to exercise it, as the holder is understood to be waiting until the Minister of Mines, through the warden at Cromwell, formally grants tbe claim. Should the claim be granted and an option exercised, it is believed that tbe holder proposes to float a company and develop the claim by means of up-to-date machinery. The purchase price of the option, which is held by Mr. J. Roche, is £15,000 aud the vendors are to receive 15 per cent, of the gold won.
