■ Fourball at Shandon A raging nor’-wester made conditions difficult for golfers on Saturday, but nevertheless some good cards were returned in the handicap fourball best-ball •competition played on the Shandon links. The winners turned up in K. Jeffery and F. C. Desmond; who finished 7 up. The next best cards were returned by C. Letford and J. Taylor, 5 up; M. R. Bowring nnd K. Clayton, 4 up; J. Melvin nnd A. Hawken, 2 up; F. C. Denz arifl E. McCarroll, 2 up; C. L. Bishop and L. R. Bowen, 2 up; I*. Burke and L. J. Cornwell, 2 up; T. P. McCarthy and E. W. Dawson, 2 up: A. F. Clapcott and W. Johnston and R. G. Hayward and D. M. Boyd, 1 up. The official closing of the winter season and the opening of the summer season takes place .next Saturday afternoon. Mixed foursomes and other competitions are being arranged. ■ SHANDON LADIES The Rourke Cup competition, played by the Shandon Ladies’ Week-end Golf Club for approaching and putting, was won by Mrs.- Burke. Miss Hodgins was the winner of the ringer competition with a gross score of 70. In thd final of the Wilford Cup, T. P. McCarthy boat A. Runeiman, 2 and 1.
