BOWLS CONTESTS
Results of Hutt Valley Banner Competition UPPER HUTT IN LEAD ■■ ■ The first round of the Hutt Valley Banner competition among the bowling cluba in the Hutt Valley was played on Saturday under somewhat boisterous conditions. The northerly wind often upset all calculations, sometimes turning a bowl into the adjoining rink or countering the bias altogether. The honours of the first round fall to Upper Hutt with 75 per cent.' wins, with Lower Hutt a good second. Central had an off day with 35 per cent. The conditions were as good at Lower Hutt as anywhere, thanks to a well-shel-tered green. Even here the going was a little on the heavy side, as the greens are being nursed for the Dominion tournaments. Mr. P. Warner is secretary to the Banner Committee. The results are as follow: — __ AT PETONE. Against Woburn. —McEwen 10, Jones 21. Against Lower Hutt.—Rennie 13, Hodgins 14. ' Against Upper Hutt.—Bush 21. Goodwin 22. Against Central.—T.
