FATAL SHOOTING TRIP
Rabbiter Mortally Wounded BULLET FROM A RIFLE Trip Over Rough Country Dominion Special Service. Auckland, Nov. 20. A fatal shooting accident occurred this afternoon at Kiwitahl, ten xnues from Morrinsvllle. While rabbit shooting with three companions, Mr. Frederick Lingard, married, aged -i> of Morrinsrille, received a fatal wound, when Mr. William Williams, one of the party slipped on a stone, accidentally discharging his pea-rifle. The bullet lodged in Mr. Lingard’s stomach. After the accident there followed au arduous trek to the road over . two miles of very rough country, the injured man being carried on the shoulders of his companions. Dr. G. Craig, of Morrinsvllle was summoned, but Mr. Lingard had died before he arrived. Deceased was well-known in Morrinsville, where he was employed in the blacksmith’s shop of Mr. W. Hobbs. He is survived by a wife and two young children. An Inquest will be held to-morrow.
