LARGE ENTRIES
Royal Agricultural Show
The exceptionally large number of entries registered for the Ninth (N.Z.) Royal Agricultural Show, to be held at Palmerston North on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday next augurs well for its being the best show of its kind ever held in the Dominion. The number of entries is striking evidence of the continued confidence of the breeders in the future of the purebred live-stock industry of this Dominion.
Several of the animals to be exhibited at the show have already been seen at the provincial shows. In addition to these, many of the “top-notchers” have been held in resbrve for the Royal Show, in order that they may be shown in their most perfect condition. It is pleasing to know that his Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, (himself a keen breeder and judge of purebred live stock, will be afforded the opportunity of viewing such a magnificent showing of New Zealand’s best in horses, cattle, sheep and pigs, when he visits Palmerston North.
In addition to these main features of the Royal Show, the entertainment of the general public will be extensively catered for. Everybody dearly loves a good horse, and first-class exhibitions of clever jumping, aided by expert horsemanship, will be seen. Exhibitions of steer riding will be given, and there will be a pageant of decorated bicycles, bicycle racing, relay racing for school-boys, and boxing contests.
