New Yard and Tracks INCREASE IN TRAFFIC a Link With Main Trunk - Dominion Special Service. Stratford, October 29. Information has been received by the mayor, Mr. P. Thomson, that extensive improvements and alterations are to be made to the Stratford railway yard and tracks, In view of the extra traffic which will have to be handled through the opening of the Stratford Main Trunk line. A "triangle” Is to be constructed at the corner of Cilia and Juliet Streets' where the present branch line joins the main line. Trains from the south to be run over the Stratford Main Trunk line will come into the station and then back a distance of about a quarter of a mile to the triangle and move out. east. Trains arriving from the east and proceeding south will join the main line at the triangle and then back to the station. A double track is to be constructed on the north side of the station for a distance of a quarter of a mile, and this will assist in connection with the extra shunting that will be necessary, and will relieve the already congested station yard, which will also be rearranged. The Railways Department does not intend to institute through passenger services on the Stratford Main Trunk line until the new year. Special trains to be run from Taumarunui for the Stratford show and the Stratford races will be run by the Public Works Department, the Railways Department having made the rolling-stock available.
