Saturday’s Match Results MASTERTON-OPAKI CLUB Dominion Special Service. Mastertoil, Oct. 30. Eighteen members of the MastertonOpaki Rifle Club took part iu a match fired over the 800 aud 900 yards ranges yesterday. There was a very slight wiml blowing, but not enough to trouble marksmen to any extent. The weather was dull and consequently the sighting was not all that was to be desired. Some good individual scores were recorded by J. McKenzie, senr., and G. H. Murdoch, the former scoring 49 at the 800 yards range and the latter notching 46 at 900 yards. Trophy shooting will bo continued next Saturday over the 300, 500 and 600 yards ranges, 10 shots. POSITIONS FOUND Technical School Students Masterton. Oct. 2S. In his report to the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Secondary Education Board last evening Mr. O. H. E. Yates, Acting-Principal of the Masterton Technical School, stated that every student who left the day classes during the month definitely entered into permanent employment and with one exception all those who left and who were able to attend joined up with the evening classes. Members stated that it was. most satisfactory to note that the boys were being absorbed. Referring to the fact that the boys were continuing their studies at the evening classes, the chairman, Mr. W. H. Jackson, said it showed the great practical value of the Technical School. The occujiat ions taken up by the boys are: Trade or other industry, 5; farming, 3; and office work, 1.

At the annual meeting of the Wanganui Highland Pipe Band, the following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Major 11. Browne, M.8.E.; president, Mr. J. Patterson; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. G. Herd, N. Fulton, I. MeSkimming, L. McMillan, J. Grant. F. Thompson; committee, Messrs. V. McKee, J. McMillan, R. L. McLean, J. Bain, E. C. Morgan, J. Morgan; pipe major, Mr._R. Thompson; sergeant-piper, Mr, A. Richardson; corMr. W. McKee; drum-major, Air. J. Mackie; sergeant-drummer. Mr. L. Buckley: corporal-drummer, Mr. E. Neal; hon. auditor, Mr. S. ■ R. McCallum; trustees, Messrs. J. Patterson. W. Herd; secretary and treasurer, Mr. D._ Duncan; assistant secretary, Mr. A. Richardson. It was decided not to compete at the New Zealand pipe band competitions this year.

Miss W. Miller, Renall. Street, Masterton. is spending a holiday in Wellington. Miss Edna Norwood. Wellington, and Miss Hazel West, Napier, who have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Pithcr. Lansdowne, Masterton, have returned to their respective homes.
