WHEAT PRICES COLLAPSE

Chicago’s Low Records (Rec. October 30, 6.30 p.m.) Chicago. Oct. 29. A new low record for wheat futures in seventy years’ trading in the Wheat Pit, and an cighty-year bottom record in the cash price, was established to-day when December wheat dropped on persistent liquidation by tired long interests, and the nominal price of No. 2 hard winter reached 44i cents. Wheat reached 34 cents in July, 1852, but at. that time Chicago had not established its place as the world’s grain market. The collapse of prices to-day is attributed to news that the Australian harvest lias begun, and that Argentina is prepared to cut prices, this presaging fierce world competition. New York, Oct. 29. Chicago wheat: December, 44 1-8 cents; May, 49 5-8 cents; July, New York, cash, 52 5-8 cents. Ivondon, Oct. 28.

Wheat cargoes to-day were steadier on better overseas closing. .Sellers were inclined to resist making concessions. Four cargoes of Australian, new crop, February shipment, were sold to the Far East at prices that were not revealed. Parcels were quietly supported, lianitobas advanced 6d to 9d- Australians were unchanged. Parcels ex Buteshire and Devon sold at 26/9. and ex Talisee at 20/6 net in bulk. Futures: London, December. 23/•> per quarter; February, 22/8: April, 22/10. Liverpool, October, 5/4 7-8 per cental; December, 5/2 7-8; Marell, 5/1.
