Steadier at Lower Prices FIRMNESS IN CHEESE There was marked weakness last week in the Loudon butter market, but it steadied at the close at the lower range of prices. Now Zealand first grade declined b.v 6/-, and finest by 4/- a cwt. during the week, closing at 96/106/-, compared with 94/96/- for Australia. The cheese market was 1 firm, prices for N.Z white showing a rise of 1/6 to 2/- a cwt. during the week. ' LONDON SHEEPSKIN SALES Little Change in Prices Dalgety and Company Ltd. have received the following report, dated London, October 27, from their head office : — London sheepskin sale: Good attendance of buyers, with good competition and clearances. Home trade and Continental buyers principal operators. As compared with closing rates of last series, haifbreds par to 5 per cent, lower; fipe medium to good crossbred geueraily unchanged; hoggets slightly dearer; lambs unchanged. SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES Palmerston North Sale The mont.hlj- sale of wool, sheepskins, hides and tallow was held nt Palmerston North on Friday by Abraham and Williams Limited. The wool market lacked competition. With an exceptional offering of skins the market was most disappointing and on a par with recent sales in other centres values were down about -Jd per pound. Salted skins were not in much demand. Prices of hides fell Jd to Id per pound, while' calfskins also dropped in value the same amount. The tallow market was very firm.
