Mr. James Begg, Dunedin, is in Wellington. Mr. L. Whltcombe arrived from the south yesterday morning. Mr. J. R. Wink has been appointed deputy-register of the Supreme Court, Masterton.

Mr. C. G. White, who h;ts been visitins the South Island, returned to Wellington yesterday. Mr. H. E. Stephens, of Stoke, Nelson, was appointed chairman of the New Zealand Fruit Control Board at a meeting of the board held in Nelson yesterday. Miss Katherine Hoby has been awarded the Lady Stout Bursary. The selection was announced by the Victoria College Council at a meeting on Thursday evening. Mr. H. E. Tunley Jones, New Zealand representative for Morris Motors, Ltd., who has been visiting Great Britain, with his wife, has returned to Wellington. Mr. R. Hanning, Dunedin, has been appointed to the council of the New Zealand Bowling Association, to fill the vacancy created by the death of Mr. A. J. Sullivan. Mr. Justice MacGregor, with his associate, Mr. A. N. Haggitt, will leave Wellington to-day to preside at the quarterly sessions of the Supreme Court at Napier. Later, his Honour will go to Gisborne. Signor Rolli, of Melbourne, who was in New Zealand with the last Gonsalez Grand Opera Company as representative tor the artists, is acting in a similar capacity with the Imperial Grand Opera Company.
