FASCINATING PRIMA DONNA
Signorina Valobra • Signorina Cesarina Valobrd, the charmiug and gifled prima donna, who is to slug the role of Cbo Cbo San in “Aladam Butterfly,” this evening, is delighted with what she has seen of New Zealand. “This country reminds me very much of Italy,” said the singer yesterday. "Auckland is reminiscent of my own city of Spezzia, and Wellington with its hillsides crowded with houses is very much like Genoa.” In Italy they begin their cpi’cers at an early age. Signorina Valobra commenced her operatic career at 1G years and. curiously enough, was at La Scala, in Alilau. when Signor Rossi, first conductor of the company now in Wellington, was in the position of substitute conductor under the great, Arturo Toscanini. No singer could wish for a finer schooling than a season under the magie baton of Toscanini. Signorina Valobra, who is a pretty brunette, vivacious and laughter-loving, is a Jewess, and possesses the artistic flair so common in that people. She is under middle height, and plump in figure, and her beauty, brightness and charm captivate all who meet her off the stage.
