HUTT CROQUET CLUB
Members Celebrate Anniversary The members of tbc Hutt Croquet Club spent a pleasant day ou their green last Tuesday, when they combined the club sports day with tbe celebration of their twenty-first anniversary. Practically tbe whole day was devoted to the various competitions, which had been arranged by the club captain, Mrs. Boek. The special birthday festivities were held during the afternoon, when the honorary members and other friends were present. A delicious afternoon tea was provided. A large birthday cake was given by Airs. H. G. Teagle, on the top of which was a representation of a croquet lawn, complete with hoops, balls, mallets, and players. It was surrounded by birthday caudles In tbc club colours. The toast of the foundation members was proposed by Airs. Teagle and responded to by the president, Airs. Hendry, who was the first of the foundation members to be associated with the club, also Airs. D. Webley and Airs. E. Johnson. Other foundation members who still belong to the Hutt club are Airs. Holland, Airs. Ayson, and Airs. Eddie, who were present on that day. The club members were specially generous on account of tbe double event, and the following gave trophies and other donations:—Alesdauies Hendry, Teagle, Boek, Ayson, Watkins, Yates, King, Stonebouse, Jcnness, Passmore, and Miss Wilkins. The competition for honorary members was won by Airs. L. T. Watkins, with Mrs. D. Webley second.
