Miss Iva McElclowney’s Studies Abroad STRIKI NG PEN-AND-INK WORK Art lovers will view with keen enjoyment the dashing and bold pen-and-ink and drawings, pencil studies, and wash drawings of Miss Iva MeEldowncy, the well-known Wellington artist, who recently returned from four years’ study in Holland and Alajorca. These intensely fascinating works are hung in the upstairs salon of the Art Gallery in AVhltmore Street, and will be open to the public on Monday. Aliss AlcEldowney, who studied with Jo Koster, a Dutch woman artist, was persuaded by her to give up colour and go in for pen-and-ink, which she has done with brilliant results. Tlio detail of the work is perfect, and the strength, boldness, and power displayed arrest the beholder immediately. Her Dutch windmills are especially fine, bold examples, the bright sunshine and shadows on the thousands of bricks being extraordinarily realistic.
