AN ORCHARD FANCY
When the apple-blossom’s pink, Then the orchard fairies think, “It is time for our queen's wedding?' Through the cuckoo-flowers and daisies See her come with, elves in mazes In the twilight softly treading.
And a dove of sweetest feather, Joins the lovers’ hands together, While the nodding apple-trees Wave their branches in the breeze. Scattering petals, pink and sweet. Like confetti at their feet. —Found by “Nonnie the Gnome,’' aged 11, Napier.
