SHIPMENTS OF MEAT
Limitation Advocated \ * AUSTRALIAN FEARS Melbourne, Oct. 27. A deputation of New South Wales and Victorian graziers and meat exporters directed the attention of Mr. F. H. Stewart, Federal Minister of Commerce, to the grave condition of the British meat market and the continuous glutting of supplies. The fear was expressed that if South American shipments of mutton and lamb continued heavy to December 31, the present lamb export season would be disastrous. The deputation urged that representations should be made to the New Zealand Government, the British Government, and the Argentine with a view to arranging all round limitation of shipments. Mr. Stewart replied that the Ministry was alive to the danger and the whole position had been placed before the British Government through Mr. Stanley Bruce, resident Commonwealth Minister in London.
