A PARTING GIFT
New Zealand’s Merits VISITOR’S APPRECIATION At a parochial gathering in St. Paul’s schoolroom last evening, the vicar, Canon Percival James, spoke of a gracious act of the sister of her Excellency the Lady Bledisloe, the Honourable Mrs. Daniell, who has recently visited New Zealand. On the eve of her departure. Mrs. Daniell wrote to their Excellencies expressing her desire “to show her appreciation of the kindness which she had received and her admiration of this country and its people by making some'little gift to some good object in the Dominion.” Having a happy recollection of the service which she attended at St. Paul’s, Mrs. Daniell selected the St. Paul’s rebuilding fund, and sent to their Excellencies a cheque for £2O, with her best wishes for the success of the rebuilding project. "We derive very real encouragement from such an act of kind thoughtfulness and generous help,” said the canon. “This gracious act of our distinguished visitor is similar to the many considerate and generous acts of their Excellencies throughout New Zealand. Their Excellencies will long be remembered in New Zealand for their zeal in promoting all that makes for the highest welfare of our people, and their abundant generosity in helping all good causes.”
