TESTED TIPS

Copyright The thrifty housewife lays in a store of eggs to preserve for use when they become. expensive. If they are to be preserved in waterglass, it is a good plan'to smear each egg with butter before putting in the solution. The pores in the shell are thus effectively stopped, and the eggs will keep much better, being free from the musty flavour which seems to permeate from the preservative; moreover the lime does not cling io the shells on removal. Another way to preserve eggs is to wrap each one in newspaper and store in, a cardboard or wooden box. Turn the box over occasionally, and be sure that your pantry or cupboard is dry and airy. Eggs treated in this way will keep for six months.
