Rug Stolen from Car GAOL TERM IMPOSED “I don’t remember stealing the rug; I was drunk at the time," explained Patrick Jepson, labourer, aged 40, who was charged in the Police Court yesterday with stealing a rug, valued at 15/-, the property of Joe You. The magistrate, Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., Imposed a sentence of one month’s imprisonment. Senior-Sergeant Scott said that accused was seen to look inside Joe You’s motor-car, parked in Taranaki Street. Later, he came back and took a rug from the car. Constable Wilson located accused, and the rug was later found In a yard in Frederick Street. When imposing sentence, the magistrate pointed out that Jepson had bad six convictions this year. Other Cases. A remand until August 23 was grant-? ed to Frederick Daniel Miller, porter, aged 23, and Alfred Thomas Miller, butcher, aged 29, who were charged with breaking and entering the boatshed of Edward Bailey and stealing a quantity of' goods valued at £2O. James Wilfred Sutherland, labourer, aged 51, was fined 10/-, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment, for his second offence of drunkenness.
