Club Players Increase ASSOCIATION’S REPORT There has been a slight Increase in the number of club tennis players in the Dominion during the past year, and the annual report of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association shows a total of 29,490 members in 1032, as compared with 29,318 in 1931. In 1913 the membership of the various associations affiliated to the Dominion body was only 10,584. The report, which will be submitted at the annual meeting on August 26, states that while the larger of the 20 affiliated associations have increased their membership, several of the smaller associations have suffered a loss of both clubs and members. The report shows that entries for the principal events in the New Zealand championships during the last six years have not varied remarkably. The seven principal events in the 1926 championships drew 164 entries. In 1927 there was a record of 204 entries, but in 1931 the total was down to 178. Appreciation is expressed at the recent donation of a trophy to the association by the Lady -Bledisloe. The New Zealand ranking list for performances during the past year is as follows:—Men: 1, O. Angas; 2, H. A. Barnett; 3, N. R. C. Wilson; 4, E. I* Bartleet and D. G. France; 6, N. G. Sturt; 7, R. A. Court; 8, A. L. France; 9, W. G. Robertson; 10, A. C. Stedmlin. Women: 1, Miss D. Nicholls; 2, Mrs. H. M. Dykes; 3, Miss M. Macfarlane; 4, Mrs. W. J. Melody; 5, Miss B. M. Knight; 6, Miss M- Wake; 7, Mrs. E. Napier; 8, Mrs. D. G. France and Miss D. Howe. The income and expenditure account shows a loss of £99, the expenditure totalling £467. The accounts for the New Zealand championships, which were held at Auckland, show receipts totalling £552, and, after paying expenses, a profit of £79 was made.
