DESTROYED BY FIRE
Wooden House at Solway Dominion Special Service. Masterton, August 14. A five-roomed wooden house at Railway Road, Solway, owned by Mrs. Field, Matakiwi, and occupied by Mr. William Ward, was completely destroyed by fire, with all its contents, last night. The occupants were absent at the time. Shortly after 8.45 p.m., a neighbour, Mr. Thomas Harris, noticed flames bursting from the roof of the house. He obtained assistance, but in the absence of water for fire-fighting purposes it was Impossible to save the building, which 'Was outside the Masterton hire Board area.
