An interesting member of the team is Nells Volo, an exceptionally well-bred American mare who has not yet sported silk iff the Dominion. Shaping Well. Wee Machine is reported to be shaping very well in his work and is going more smoothly. . This chap is likely to race particularly well in the coming season. Lee’s Trotters. 1 It is reported that C. A northern exchange states: — There are several promising rising three-year-olds receiving their early education as pacers and trotters at Epsom. The Nelson Bjngen—Lou Dillon filly in G. Phipps’s stable is one of the finest juveniles seen at Epsom for many a day, and she is a fine pacer who will probably, be given a chance to race in the spring as a preliminary to her Great Northern Derby engagement in December. R. Herring has a well-built filly by Worthy Bond from Nflncy Bell showing a good deal of early speed. Going by the progress she is making at present it will not be long before she is ready to make her, debut In company. The filly has been well done during the winter and is in splendid order to go ahead with her work. A colt by Metal from Bequest, dam of Benefice and Rey de Quest, is a sturdy-looklng customer who is doing under the care of K. Morrison. Ho is well mannered and has a good style of I pacipg. Another colt attracting attention, is the one in G. Webb’s charge by Nelson Tasker from Sparkling Pronto. He id a' natural pacgr who is making very satisfactory progress. Two geldings who favour the trotting gait are displaying a lot of early promise, although they hflve been only a few weeks on the track, One is by WtaCk from Noiseless and ip in F. J. Smith’s stable. He is a sturdily-built youngster and already he is showing nice speed when Stepped along. The other is by Nelson Bingen from a Great Audubon mare and is owned by H. Hedley, who formerly raced Goldman. The ttvo-year-old has plenty of size and quality and is a long-striding trotter. t Recurrence of Eye Troublc. W. J. Tomkinson is unfortunately again suffering from eye trouble, and lias been more or less confined to his room during the past couple of weeks. His many friends will wish him a speedy recovery.
