Man Wields a Poker

Christchurch, July 28.
Frank Mitchell, a shop assistant, of Riccarton, was charged to-day with assaulting Leslie Gordon Taylor at Hornby during a dance, and was sentenced by Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., to a month’s gaol. •The sub-inspector of police said that the accused hit Taylor with a poker two or three times. He was under the influence of liquor. “Anyone who would use this poker on a man would either be not in his right senses or out looking for murder,,” h® added.
