BRILLIANT HOCKEY

New Zealanders at Warwick

COMBINATION .PRAISED

By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright (Rec. July 28, 9.20 p.m.).

Warwick, Queensland, July 28.

Taking complete control of the game in the first few minutes, the New Zealand hockey tourists overwhelmed a Warwick eleven this afternoon, running up goals with monotonous regularity, and eventually winning by 13 goals to 1. Though the match was one-sided, it provided a brilliant exhibition of the game on the part of the visitors, whose toiir of Queensland thus far has been characterised by easy victories. Their combination was wonderful, especially the forwards, who completely nonplussed the local players by their speed of attack and tactics, especially the moves of Anthony, Bay, and Rodgers, which invariably ended in goals. The backs, too, combined with uncanny accuracy. the outstanding man being Parker, who played hockey of a type seldom seen in Queensland. Bollard and Munro were conspicuous. The visitors scored within five minutes of the opening and, with the exception of two occasions, were on the attack for the greater part of the first half, during which seven goals were netted. The score at half-time was 7—o In the second half the New Zealanders again took control of affairs and early added three goals in quick succession. Then Warwick for the first time seemed to have the upper but. the advantage was short-lived. The visitors dominated the play for the remainder of the game, winning by 13 goals tO 1. fax Goals were scored by Anthony (6), Rodgers (5), Bay and Best (one ea.ch). For Warwick, Stewart scored one. Following-were the teams :—

New Zealand.—Moore, Ewan, Parker, Bollard, Joblin, Munro, Anthony,, Bay, Best, Rodgers, Reid. . '' ' Warwick.—Dunbar, Ward, Johnson. An. stey, Jensen, Williams (replaced by Pollock). Furness, Garland, Carpenter, Hail, Stewart. ' "
