Mrs. Putnam Crosses America (Rec. July 14, 5.5 p.m.) Newark, July IS. Mrs. Amelia Earhart Putnam landed at 11.28 a.m. on Wednesday from Los Angeles, establishing a women’s transcontinental flight record with elapsed time of 19 hours 17 minutes, bettering Miss Ruth Nichols’s time by almost ten hours. The aviatrix Intended to do a non-stop flight, but made n forced landing at Columbus, in Ohio, with fuelfeed trouble.
