Subdivision of N.S.W. TENTATIVE SCHEME Country Party Discussion By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Rec. July 14, 8.30 p.m.) Sydney, July 14. Seventy delegates of the United County Party are holding-a conference in Sydney and discussing a tentative scheme for the subdivision of New South Wales into three almost equal units —the Northern State beginning at the Queensland border and ending at and including the port of Newcastle; the Central State beginning below Newcastle, embracing Sydney and Broken Hill and ending above Wollongong; the Southern State embracing Wollongong and extending south to the Victorian border. Senator Hardy said that an intensive campaign would be conducted in the ensuing twelve months in favour of the creation of new Federal units.

Dr. Earle Page urged' that subdivision would be best, not only for New South Wales, but for Australia as well. There must be substantial backing from Sydney and no attempt must be made to isolate .industrial centres. “You cannot have one plague spot in Australia without infecting the rest,” he said.
