DEFEAT BY 4 VOTES
Victorian Labour Ministry RESIGNATION SHORTLY (Rec. April 14, 1 a.m.) Melbourne, April 13. Sir Stanley Argyle, Leader of the Opposition, launched a no-confidence motion in the Legislative Assembly the censure being based on the Acting-Pre-mier’s evasive reply to the Opposition Leader’s question whether the economy and rehabilitation plan was to continue for a further six months. The motion was carried by 29 votes to 25. The Hogan Labour Government will resign. There is now a strong movement to form a Nationalist Government led by Sir Stanley Argyle. Mr. T. Tunnicliffe is Acting-Premier in the absence of Mr. E. J. Hogan, who is en route for England for health reasons.
