QUIET AT ST. JOHN’S
Premier Still in Office NO INTENTION TO RESIGN Vancouver, April 12. A message from St. John’s. Newfoundland, states that 11.M.5. Dragon, a light cruiser, anchored in the harbour on Tuesday morning. All has been quiet for several days. Two thousand citizens, including many war veterans, had enrolled for police duty In case of further disturbances, but their services were not required. The Premier, Sir Richard Squires, is still in office. Though there is uncertainty in regard to the strength of the Government, he is on record as having said that he has absolutely no intention whatever of resigning. Interest is centred around the announcement of the Governor. Sir John Middleton, that he would appoint a Royal Commission to- investigate the disorders of a week ago. It was expected that the Assembly would resume sessions within a few days.
