MASTERTON FIRE LOSS

Slight Increase for Year Masterton, April 13. The report presented to the annual meeting of the Masterton Eire Brigade last night showed that the total loss to the insurance companies for the year was £9309, against £7895 in 1931. The estimated loss on uninsured property was £2064, against £3295 in 1931, the total estimated loss during the year being £11,433, as edmpared with £11,3J0 for the preceding year. The brigade received 32 calls during the year, an increase of two over the previous year. The Government Inspector of Fire Brigades, Mr. H. Girling Butcher, made his first inspection of the brigade and reported favourably on the work. Tbq following honours were gained by members during the year: Three years’ certificates, Firemen L. Brooks, K. Montgomery; nine years’ bar, Fireman R. Clark; 13 years’ bar, Fireman C. Loader; 15 years’ bar, Engineer C. Clark; 17 years’ bar, Fireman J. Henderson; 19 years’ bars, Firemen G. Barr and C. Cole; 21 years’ bars, Superintendent T. Robb. Foreman W. Clark and Fireman F. Cole. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Deputy-Superintendent W. Minett; senior foreman, P. Watts; junior foreman, W. Clark; secretary, J. Clarke.
