Appointment of Mr. J. N. Millard OPENING MATCHES At the meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union, last evening, the chairman, Mr. J. Prendcville, announced that the committee had reappointed Mr. J. N. Millard as sole selector for the 1932 season. Many complimentory remarks had been made concerning bis work in tbe past, Mr. Prendeville said. Problems concerning tbe amalgamation of the Melrose and Sclwyn clubs came before tbe meeting when a letter was received from tbe new club requesting guidance in regard to members of the old clubs. The points raised, together with the committee’s rulings, are: (1) Can a member of either of the old clubs play for another club without his being transferred, providing he is financial? —Players must obtain transfers. < (2) If the member is not. financial can he play for another club without being transferred ?—No. (3) A member played part of the 1931 season, left Wellington, played for a club outside of the Wellington district for the remainder of tbe season, aml returned to Wellington this season, but is not financial. Can he play for another club without being transferred?— If he has come back to Wellington, the only restriction Is that he must qualify as to residence. Players on Relief Work, Tn reply to a letter from tbe union regarding single players who received their weekly ration of work on Saturdays, the Wellington Citizens’ Unemployment Committee advised that any player affected should make application to the committee, and every effort would be made to give him employment which would enable him to participate in Saturday afternoon games. Hutt Valley High School was granted permission to use Strand Park on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, subject to the ground being available. The Hutt club was granted permission to play practice matches against Petone on Saturday as follow: —Senior B, at Hutt, 1.45 'p.m.; third grade, Strand Park, 3 p.m.; fourth grade, at Petone, curtain-raiser; fifth grade, at Strand Park; sixth grade, at Petone. The third and fifth grade fixtures are subject to confirmation. Arrangements will be made for the sole selector to meet representatives of senior B teams on Thursday of next week. Transfers Approved. Transfers were apiiroved as follow:— A. G. Sadler, Hutt to Old Boys; R. L. Martin, Old Boys to Hutt; J. C. OConnell, Petone to St. Patrick s College Old Boys; T. W. Corkin. 11. S. Corliss, A. G. Nesbit and D. R. Watkins, Moera to Hutt; W. Eade, Oriental to University; W. Wood, N. Lynsky and V . H. Roberts, Hutt to University; L. Ross, Onslow to Hutt; G.
