Deadlock at Shanghai

The Sino-Japanese peace parleys here were indefinitely postponed this afternoon at the request of the Chinese delegates, who claimed that failure to receive instructions from the Government at Loyang regarding the time limit for the Japanese withdrawal from Shanghai to the point which occasioned a deadlock at the last session prevented further discussions at the moment. It is believed that the Chinese move indicates an intention to refer the whole settlement of outstanding questions to the League of Nations, since the local parleys are handicapped by intense anti-Japanese feeling.
