BOWLS ON SATURDAY

Friendly Games Played ATTENDING TO GREENS As the weather cleared up for Saturday the clubs were engaged in friendly games or in bringing club rinks and pairs to a conclusion. The final game for the Hill Pins will be played on Thursday between Lyall Bay and Thorndon, at Jjyall Bay, and the winners will be the holders of the plus until the competition begins next season. Already attention is being given to tbe greens, as tbe clubs are anxious to get them in tho best possible order in view of the Dominion tournament next January in Wellington.. Improvements have been made in tbe surroundings, and the bush which adjoins tbe green at Kbandallab, which is entitled to rank as one of the most picturesque in the Wellington Centre. Tbe entrance and banks of the Wellington club greens are always very attractively ornamented with flower beds and roses, and have been much admired this season, and garden plots, with: banks, a mass of geraniums, add to the charm of tbe club premises at Ilataitai, while the new break wind has also effected a considerable improvement. Thorndon green is noted for its perfect qualities, nnd the club has ample accommodation for social activities. Seatoun is an attractive suburb for visitors, and a well-sheltered green enables the game to be enjoyed to the utmost. Victoria runs Thorndon closely for playing qualities, and the club management as hosts when visitors are here from overseas come second to none.
