SCHOOL HOLDS FAIR

Upper Hutt Effort TO. HELP THE FUNDS Organised by the Upper Hutt Home and School Association, the fourth annual fair held iu the school grounds last Saturday afternoon was a complete success. The proceeds will be divided among the general funds of the association, improvements to school grounds, and provision of sports material. In opening the fair Mr. W. H. Turner, president of the association, said that owing to bad times the Government would not be able to give the same assistance to schools as they had given in the past. The numerous stalls were well provided with goods, the produce stall in particular presenting a fine display. In the evening a dance was held in the Drtiids’ Hall and was well patronised. Stallholders were as follow: Produce, Mesdames Howe and Simpson and Miss Smeaton; cakes, Mesdames Culling and Natta; sewing, Mesdames Turner and Judge and Miss Fogelberg; jumble stall, Mrs. Stroud; sweets, Mrs. Wetherly and Miss Scarrow; afternoon tea, Mrs. Jones, Miss Sinclair and Miss Leach.
