HARBOUR RACE

Ships’ Crews Compete A rowing race from the crews of the overseas steamers trading regularly to New Zealand for the Overseas Challenge Cup, was held on Wellington harbour on Saturday afternoon. Crews from the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tamaroa, the Commonwealth and Dominion liner Port Alma, and the, New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Pinko competed. After a fine race, the crew of the Port 'Alma won by two lengths from the Piako, with the Tamaroa half a length away third. This is the first occasion that a Commonwealth and Dominion liner has won the cup since it was presented.
